The Salzburg Summer in the Hills is a holiday experience for nature lovers and people seeking recreation and relaxation. There are more than 1,800 mountain huts in Salzburgerland, more than in any other Austrian state. Around 550 huts are open to hikers and offer traditional local specialities.
In Altenmarkt-Zauchensee you'll find 42 km of marked snow-shoe trails. They take you through the untouched winter landscape of the twin holiday-paradise and offers an unforgettable experience in nature. Snow-shoeing in the evening is pure winter romance and a wonderful change from sporty skiing during your Altenmarkt-Zauchensee winter holiday.

ATOMIC Vital-Park Altenmarkt-Zauchensee
Here twin dreams come true when the magic of nature touches you whether you are down in the valley of Altenmarkt or up high on the mountains in Zauchensee.
In the ATOMIC Vital-Park two contrasting hiking worlds lie close together. Altenmarkt (842 m) nestles in an open valley floor and is surrounded by fascinating forested hills and easy climbs whereas the mountain village of Zauchensee at 1,350 m is embraced by picture-book peaks. These two hiking worlds offer mainly intermediate level routes full of contrasts, at a range of altitudes: gently meandering from Altenmarkt and challenging and adventurous from Zauchensee. Altogether there are 33 hiking routes covering 200 km , around the Lacken- and Strimskogel and ranging from 842 up to 2,344 m above sealevel, which makes the ATOMIC Vital-Park unique. Austria's Hiking Village Altenmarkt-Zauchensee is proud of its seal of approval "Österreichs Wanderdörfer". Here the magic of walking unfolds and the stay in nature becomes an unforgettable experience.
